Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved for Years I have used this product for about 30 years, I stopped about 10 years back to try other brands and "forgot" about Laszlo for a bit. When I was unsatisfied with the complexity and ineffectiveness of the others, I "remembered" how much I loved this oil. It nourishes, moisturizes, and seems to penetrate to hydrate without causing breakouts. My skin is sensitive and dry, it helps both. Expensive? Not really when you know it works, and you don't need 5 other things. And for me, it lasts about 6 months, so I don't waste my time shopping, either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Greatest Oil Cleanser! One thing I noticed when using Emo Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Cleansing oil is that the next morning when I wake up, my skin feels soft and nourished. I actually wash my face first using a charcoal soap and then apply and clean my face with this rich oil. I haven't noticed my pores being clogged nor have I experienced any adverse reaction to this oil. It is on the heavy side, but it feels really good on my dry skin, especially since it is such a hot one. I like the quality of this oil and hands down, it is one of the better ones I have used. This comes off easily and leaves my skin nice and soft and the softness is still there in the morning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long Time Favorite I like the feeling of washing my face before applying makeup to start the day, and fully removing it at bedtime. I have very dry skin and this product allows me to do that. Back in the 40s when I first started using Laszlo products I had very oily skin and felt sure that the double cleanse system is what kept me from having to deal with acne. Now it's helping me deal with deep lines and wrinkles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Leaves skin soft I was hesitant in using a “oil” to cleanse my face as I would think it would make it oily but it did not. The bottle is fairly large and comes with a nice pump so you can dispense the amount you want. The product itself is an oil consistency so you won’t need much to use. You should use this in conjunction with the hydra-therapy cleansing bar (sold separately) for full results but it worked just as well for me without. It worked well removing my makeup and left my skin silky smooth. I will continue to incorporate this product into my nightly routine. I highly recommend everyone to try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love at first touch I have been a fan since 1978. My day starts and ends with Hydra cleansing oil.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Water-thin consistency, leaves residue I purchased this yesterday and took it right back to Nordstrom today. I had run out of my Detoxifying Cleansing Oil and really wanted to try the original Phelityl oil, but it was not available and I needed something quickly. My understanding, from an EL Advisor, was that the Hydra-Therapy is identical to the Phelityl except that Hydra-Therapy does not contain mineral oil. I would rather have the mineral oil!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best for dry and irritated skin I am using Emo Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Cleansing oil daily from last two weeks and very happy with the result! My skin feels soft and nourished. Low humidity got my skin dry so I feel that using this is a great beauty treatment for me. Honestly I'd never have put oil on my face, much less to cleanse it. However, after using this product, alone, to cleanse my face instead of soap, I think differently about oil. The oils in this cleanser are all high quality. I think my skin looks more youthful but I could feel my face had something on it, but not heavy. I apply a few pumps to my hands and swirl it around my cheeks, temples, forehead, chin and neck area. Then I rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry. Overall I am very happy with this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very happy convert So I thought I'd give this a try after finishing my bottle of the phelityl pre-cleansing oil. I have to say that I like the Hydra-Therapy oil better. This oil is much lighter on my face. Though I have loved using the tried and true, I will change my ritual.

Do you use this after you have washed your face? or is this to be used as a face wash out of the shower on dry skin, even if you have makeup on still?

Asked by: mleigh92
I use this oil in the morning on clean dry skin, appllying before using active phylityl soap and forming a lather to cleanse my face.  I use the same process at night to remove makeup. I have been a devoted Erno Laszlo user for over 40 years.

What are the best EL products to aid against wrinkles for aging skin?  I’m 65 and haven’t used EL in years, but remember good results when I was younger.

Asked by: Athena12
I am a big fan of the Firmarine Cleansing Oil and Bar as well as the new Firmarine toner/gel.  Hydraphel toner is also a winner and Transphuse serums day and night formulas will do the trick.  Amazing products.

I have used the pheltiyl cleansing oil/bar for a decade now. I'm now approaching 60 and after taking the online skin analysis, it was recommended to use the hydra therapy oil. What are the differences and why should I use one over the other?

Asked by: Sharynkel
I have used both the active pheltiyl and hydra therapy oil and I have to say I like the hydra therapy better. I have also been over a decade long customer and started with the active pheltiyl which after a while just made my skin oily it was like the skin wouldn’t absorb any moisture from it. The active pheltiyl oil was just basically another way to help get the makeup off. The hydra therapy actually moisturizes while it helps precleanse your skin.  So if you are having troubles with dry skin then I would encourage the hydra therapy. A few years ago my skin started to feel much drier and I switched oils and it made a world of difference! I also started using the hydraphil skin supplement Instead of the light controlling lotion and that also helped a lot with the dryness hope this helps!

Directions for using hydro cleansing oil and soap bar

Asked by: Sheeyundee
Thank you for your inquiry. To use our Hydra-Therapy Cleansing oil gently massage a generous amount in small circular motions on dry skin. Massage over face and jawline to open pores and trap dirt and makeup on your face. The follow with any of our cleansing bars, if looking for ultimate hydration we suggest following with our Phelityl Cleansing Bar to complete your cleansing routine for clear, balanced skin. First, dampen the bar under warm water. Next, gently massage the wet bar over your face using the rounded corners to stimulate circulation. You can also use your hands and fingertips to create a rich lather as well, remembering to include the delicate area of the neck. Rinse with warm water. Blot skin dry. Follow with toner, treatments and moisturizers to match your skin’s needs.

Can this be used as a substitute for active phelityl oil?

Asked by: Leopold
Yes, the Phelityl Pre-Cleansing Oil and Hydra-Therapy Cleansing Oil are meant to be used interchangeably. The Hydra-Therapy is the updated, mineral oil free version of the Phelityl. It is just as hydrating, however the formula feels thinner, due to the removal of mineral oil.

How is this different from the Phelityl Oil I've been using for years?

Asked by: Debstyle
The formulas are very similar in ingredients, however for the Hydra-Therapy, we have removed the mineral oil from the original formula. The oil will feel much thinner, but it is still highly hydrating and effective, without the heaviness of the Phelityl.

Hello, I have always used Phelityl Cleansing Oil with the brown soap (11:00 ).  I received a small bottle of Hydra-Therapy Cleansing Oil.  What is the difference?  Which one should I use?  I am 70 years old with good but a slightly dry skin?  Thank you.

Asked by: fergie222
Hi, I have been using Erno Lazlo since I was 12 (I am now 54) so I know exactly where you are coming from. The Hydra Therapy Cleansing Oil works, smells and feels exactly the same as the Phelityl. I think its just a new name. I have used the phelityl line for many years to and my skin is also slightly dry. I am a 10:30.
