If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Fearless, persistent, creative.
When were you first introduced to Erno Laszlo and how?
Through a friend who works at the company!
What does Erno Laszlo mean to you?
It’s quality product for the girl who is always on-the-go and very busy - like me!
Favorite Erno Laszlo product?
The Firmarine Moisturizer SPF 30 - I use it every single day!
What does a typical day look like for you at work?
No two days are ever the same! One day I could be meeting with a designer, and the next I could be shooting a campaign! I love the versatility of what I do, it’s never boring!
What is one piece of advice you would give others trying to get where you are today?
Be passionate about everything you do and be prepared to work hard. It’s not going to be easy but it will be worth it.
As a writer, creative director, editor and stylist, how do you juggle all your various projects and still have time for yourself and a social life?
I use the iPhone calendar app every single day to schedule all of my meetings and stay organized. I’m so big on mental health and not over booking myself so I do my best to schedule
What’s your secret to surviving the amazing and exhausting experience of working NYFW?
Just have fun! It can feel overwhelming and stressful at times, but I always take a minute to sit back and think to myself, “Girl, you’re at NYFW, you’re living your dream”. When you think about it like that and take a moment to just be in the moment and appreciate it all - that’s the key to surviving.
Tell us about your relationship with skincare. Where did it start? How has it evolved?
I’m not a huge makeup person. I keep my looks very simple because I always want to look like myself! In high school I struggled with acne so that’s when I got into skincare and experimented with creams and washes! Today, my relationship revolves around skincare because I think the key to any makeup looking good is clear skin.
Best beauty advice your Mom/Grandma/Aunt, etc. shared with you?
Always wear SPF (and lipstick!).
What is your skincare/beauty guilty pleasure/confession? (We won't judge!)
I probably own over 100 lipsticks (and many of them are different variations of red).
Walk us through your typical morning and evening skincare routine. How and why does it differ on a daily basis?
I always wash my makeup off. Then I apply a toner and moisturizer. My moisturizer is my go-to, I couldn’t survive without it. At night I always put on a nightly mask that’s usually a cream and sleep with it on! In the morning I just wash my face, add moisturizer and go!
Do you have a skincare/beauty hack to share?
I do face masks several times every week. I own so many sheet masks, I think they’re an easy way to pamper yourself while still doing something really good for your skin.
Describe your standard beauty routine. How does it differ from daytime to evening?
In the morning I use a B.B. cream, bareMinerals powder and Glossier cream blush. I’m always in a rush so I’ll sometimes quickly put on blue eyeliner and my mascara and I do my lipstick during the commute! In the evening, I’ll wear a foundation with more coverage and take more time to do my eye makeup. I love a sparkly or glittery lid to make a look perfect for a night out! I’ll also add a highlight on my cheek for evening!
You’re stranded on a deserted island and can only bring 5 skincare/beauty products. What are they?
- Red lipstick
- A face mask
- Eyebrow pencil
Who is your #1 beauty icon?
At the moment I really love Elsa Hosk. My forever beauty icon is Iris Apfel because she is so open about aging gracefully and is so confident in her own skin.
You snoozed your alarm and only have time to brush your teeth and do one step in your skincare/beauty routine? What is it?
Eyebrows and mascara. (Can I have two? Haha)
The beauty (and fashion!) space is constantly evolving. What are your thoughts on its current status and how that impacts you as a woman? What do you wish this space would continue to improve on?
I love that we are becoming more open with our insecurities and fears. In the past we all used to make our lives look perfect, but I think because of social media we are able to share our flaws and insecurities. I also love that the traditional beauty standard is disappearing and all women are now included in beauty. Our own differences are what make us beautiful! I hope we continue making the industry and social media a safe space!
What does beauty mean to you? When do you feel the most beautiful? Beauty means loving yourself, despite your flaws and despite your insecurities! Loving yourself and being confident in your own skin is the most beautiful thing!!!
We’re trying to create a space where we own our insecurities (since we all have them) instead of hiding them. What’s one of your insecurities? How do you deal with it?
Yes! I think it’s so important for us to all love our flaws! I haven’t always loved my nose, I still don’t sometimes! When I was younger I was actually bullied because of it! I’ve come to realize there is not one standard of beauty and our differences are what make us beautiful! I think my nose adds character to my face and is part of who I am!
What’s one thing that you love about yourself and why?
My smile! It’s very expressive and when I’m really happy I smile so big that it takes up most of my face. I used to not like it because I felt like it looked cheesy and I didn’t like the lines on my face but I realized my smile is what makes me...me!
