We’ll admit, we’ve kind of been hibernating all winter. But spring is in our sights and that means we’re preparing to ditch the sweaters and welcome new spring styles - aka showing some more skin. That also means it’s time to add some moisture-packed skincare must-haves into our wellness rituals. Keeping your body sufficiently hydrated benefits not only your skin but also your overall health. Get inspired with our favorite ways to stay holistically hydrated no matter the season.

Your Skin

While skin does have self-moisturizing capabilities (hello sebum) that alone doesn’t cut it. Every skin type out there benefits from added hydration, even you oily-skinned superstars. Your skin has to absorb enough moisture to stay elastic, stopping wrinkles in their dreaded tracks. Other cool things that hydration does include fighting acne and getting rid of irritating oils, toxins, and dead skin cells.

The double cleanse method is our tried and true way to kick to the curb the worst of the day’s toxins and natural buildup. We have different duos based on specific skin concerns, so if yours is more moisture, switch to our Phelityl Cleansing Bar  + Hydra-Therapy Cleansing Oil double cleanse treatment.

Another great daily addition to your skincare ritual for more hydration is our Hydra-Therapy Boost Serum, an oil-serum hybrid that’s so good it even defeats Texas-summer-levels of dry skin, according to ANN317 on ErnoLaszlo.com.

If you need more moisture as fast as possible, our near-instantaneous Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality Treatment will do the trick. Aside from its selfie-worthy pink hue, it hydrates dry patchy areas and keeps your face hydrated all day long.

Other products to help retain moisture during the driest times of year include our moisturizing yet mattifying Hydra-Therapy Gel Cream, our silky skin-reviving Hydraphel Skin Supplement, and our Ocuphel Emollient Eye Cream to hydrate the all-important eye area.

Your Body

Humans are a lot like plants: feed them, water them, give them light, and they’ll more or less prosper. Drinking water in particular is arguably the most important and yet one of the easiest things to forget. People don’t really talk about dehydration like the symptom that it is; it’s much more than just being thirsty. If you have a headache, fatigue, cramps, are lightheaded and/or in a bad mood, and tired on top of it all – you’re probably dehydrated. In fact, mood and energy effects are even said to be more pronounced in women.

Sleep is a factor too. In 2018, researchers discovered that if you sleep for six or less hours a night, you’re probably more dehydrated than people who catch a few more Zzz’s. The combination of lack of sleep and dehydration is a self-sustaining one, each making the other worse. Luckily, more Zzzz’s plus more water equals highly achievable goals that only benefit each ot

Calling all multi-taskers: make the most of sleep time with our Hydra-Therapy Memory Sleep Mask, a weightless overnight formula unlike pretty much anything else out there; the memory gel texture is inspired by NASA! Our newest addition, the AHA Resurfacing Sleep Serum, is also an overnight-skincare multi-tasker, exfoliating while you sleep. Bonus multi-task: layer up! The Sleep Mask glides on perfectly over the Sleep Serum for total overnight rejuvenation.

Your hydration goal should be to drink 25-40 oz of water in the morning before doing anything else, then throughout the day, half an oz. of water for every pound you weigh. If you’re super active, double that to a full oz. Another way to do it is to drink 8 oz. every hour; set hourly cell phone reminders to help you remember.

Weather obviously affects hydration too. As the weather warms up, you’ll sweat more overall, layered up or not; balance that out with even more water. The math is simple: the more moisture you lose, the more you have to replenish.

You can also – at least in part – eat your way there. Cucumbers, celery, radishes, lettuce, spinach, and watermelon are all at least 90% water. If you love coffee, you’ll also want to be mindful to drink extra water to compensate for coffee’s diuretic effect.Keep your skin and body in tip-top hydrated shape as warmer days draw near to look and feel your best and healthiest.
