How has Erno Laszlo made an impact on you and/or your skin?

J: Erno Laszlo has reminded me of the importance of the regular routine and that only commitment will produce real results.

E:  It reminded me of the importance of a proper cleansing of the skin. I started using Laszlo 6 years ago and my skin never looked better. I have had the opportunity to work with several brands (as well as personally using several of them) and I still swear by the results and the luxury feel to the Laszlo products.

Favorite Erno Laszlo product?

J: It’s hard to pick only one but I recently fell in love with the new Hydra-Therapy Foaming Cleanse . But the Firmarine Moisturizer SPF 30 will always be my #1 or the Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar? I told you. it’s hard to pick!

E: That is a hard question since I have several. But my must-haves are Phormula 3-9 Repair Serum and Firmarine Moisturizer SPF 30.

Tell us about your relationship with skincare. Where did it start? How has it evolved?

J: I suffered from cystic acne since I was 12 years old so my skincare started then. Hence, the reason I chose this profession in the first place. So that I could learn more about my own condition and also to help others. By now, I have learned that with consistent treatment and the right daily routine I can control my condition and keep my skin healthy.

E: My love for skincare started at a very young age when I saw dear friends experiencing skin issues. Helping them with their skin made me find my true calling. As time has evolved so have the products, gadgets and machines we are able to use, which enables us to achieve greater results. The one thing that never changes (or it increases) is the passion for how I treat every case and every client.

Describe your AM and PM skincare routine.

Judit’s Morning Routine

I start off with Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Foaming Cleanse and Light Controlling Lotion. Then, I cocktail (mix) Environ C-Quence Serum 3, Colostrum Gel, C-Boost, and Avance Moisturizer. Finally, I top it off with Firmarine Moisturizer SPF 30.

Judit’s Evening Routine

First, I cleanse with Erno Laszlo Detoxifying Cleansing Oil with Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar followed by Environ Alpha Toner Forte. I derma roll my skin horizontal, vertical and diagonal and I cocktail  Environ C-Quence Serum 3, Colostrum Gel, C-Boost, and Avance Moisturizer. I use Environ Vita–Peptide Eye Gel for my eye area. Some nights, I apply Environ Revival Mask or Phormula 3-9 Repair Cream. Once a week, I use the Erno Laszlo Multi-Task Eye Serum Mask and a Hydrogel Mask, depending on how my skin feels (Sensitive or Firming). If I feel a breakout or cyst coming, I use Spot Stop from Circadia.

Eliana’s Morning Routine

I usually wash with my Phelityl Cleansing Bar (although now I am trying the Hydra-Therapy Foaming Cleanse and I’m already obsessed) and my Foreo Luna followed by Hydraphel Skin Supplement. I use two serums: the first is C-Quence 2 by Environ then Phormula 3-9 Repair Serum. Finally, I apply Firmarine Moisturizer SPF 30 and La Mer Eye Cream.

Eliana’s Evening Routine:

I wash my face with Phelityl Cleansing Bar and use my dermaroller all over face (every other night) followed by Environ Colostrum Gel, Phormula 3-9 Cream, Tri-Peptide Avance Moisturizer and Phormula 3-9 Eye Repair. Once a week, I do the Hydra-Therapy Skin Vitality Treatment Mask.

Do you have a skincare or beauty guilty pleasure?

J: Yes, a strong chemical peel. They can really improve fine lines along with the texture and tone of the skin. But the fear of the downtime and the redness prevents some from experiencing the benefits.

E: Yes, doing microdermabrasion, dermaplaning and lactic acid all in one treatment. My skin screams right after the treatment but it looks and feels amazing soon after.

You’re stranded on a deserted island and can only bring 5 skincare/beauty products. What are they?

J:  Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar, Firmarine Moisturizer SPF 30, Spot Stop from Circadia, and a box of lancets.

E: Phelityl Cleansing Bar, Foreo Luna, Firmarine Moisturizer SPF 30, blow dryer, BIOPTRON Light Therapy

What are the biggest skincare mistakes that you see people make?

J: Only wearing sunscreen in the summertime. UV rays penetrate through the clouds and still

damage the skin. Also, using the wrong products on your skin. Just because it worked for your friend,

it doesn't mean it will work for you, too! Finally, going to bed without washing your face!

E: Going to bed with makeup on, doing your own extractions and thinking that just because you use SPF,

That you are protected from pigmentation.

We have to ask….How should people deal with pimples at home?

We know how difficult it is for anyone to deal with a zit yet our recommendation is don’t touch it and don’t start drying it out with a drying product. The body has an amazing repairing response and if we let it do its own work, the skin will immediately go into healing mode. There is a time when you are allowed to touch the zit and that is when the infection works itself to the surface. When you see a “white head”,  you can go ahead and gently squeeze it and apply some drying lotion treatment to speed up the recovery. There are some good ones out there like Spot Ttop from Circadia and End Zit (Be careful if you are allergic to sulfur because End Zit contains sulfur!) and the Mario Badescu Pink Drying Lotion.

Favorite skincare ingredient:

J: It’s always changing. Old time favorite because of my cystic condition is salicylic acid but I am currently really into Vitamin A and peptides.

E: Lactic Acid and Zinc Oxide. Although, I am having a love affair with Vitamin A these days.

Favorite skincare step:

J: Definitely cleansing. It’s the foundation of skincare.

E: Moisturizer time!

Favorite treatment:

J: Micro-needling.

E: Microdermabrasion. To me, this is the foundation for a great treatment.

Favorite skincare hack:

J: Apply your daily routine (serum, moisturizer) with small circular motions, giving yourself a mini facial massage. It will stimulate circulation and give you a natural, healthy glow.

What inspired you to create JE’DERM?

The first time we met, we immediately connected on how we look at skin and skincare, as a whole. It was always our desire to open up a place where healthy skin was accessible to all people. When an opportunity presented itself, we knew it was our moment. We founded JE’DERM with a mission to educate our clients about regular treatment being a necessity rather than a luxury. Our ultimate goal is to empower women and men to take better care of their skin.

What is something people would be surprised about your job?

People don't give enough credit to our profession, in our opinion. Apart from all the knowledge that you have to know, it is a very humbling experience that someone trusts you with their skin. Just think about it. How many people do you let get that close to you? And at JE'DERM we do not take this for granted.

What advice would you give to women who are interested in starting their own business?

To go for it. To trust that every effort and every tear will pay off in the end.

What does beauty mean to you? When do you feel the most beautiful?

J: Having the perfect balance of how I feel inside and how I look on the outside. I feel beautiful when I am happy.

E: When we are confident, our body language shows it. Our attitude shows it. Even the way we walk or wear a simple dress shows it.

We’re trying to create a space where we own our insecurities (since we all have them) instead of hiding them. What’s one of your insecurities? How do you deal with it?

J: My biggest insecurity was and always will be my skin/my cyst. Growing up it has affected my confidence and my social interaction with people. By now, I have learned how to take care of my skin from the inside-out to minimize the chance of getting them, and If i still get them, I use a good cover up and just own it. Confidence comes from within, and I’ll put on something I feel pretty in or a red lipstick.

E: My stretch marks were always something that made me very insecure to the point of not ever wearing bathing suits. It wasn’t until I met my husband 17 years ago and he encouraged me to embrace them because I was still beautiful. Now, I don’t let that insecure feeling determine whether or not I wear a bathing suit anymore.

What’s one thing that you love about yourself and why?

J:  I love my smile; a smile always makes everything better. I often walk on the street and just smile at people.

E: My determination. It could go on and on. And, my eyes. They will always tell how I feel.

Now, name something that you love or admire about your co-founder!

J: Her passion for this profession and her selfless care for others. Her determination and work ethic, which makes us a power couple.

E: Her determination and integrity. I love that she has dreams and she goes after them. We are very different in many ways but it’s incredible how much alike we are in this area and I know this is what brought us together. I truly feel we are a power couple!
