Real People. Real Rituals. Real Skin. Welcome to Erno Laszlo Skin Stories. We’re sitting down with our community to hear more about their most important relationship: the one with their skin.

When was the first time you used a skincare product? High school? College? For Lily, a professor and consultant in New York City, her relationship with skincare started when she was just a kid. Over the years she’s learned the importance of hydration, how to deal with sensitivity and developed a ritual that keeps her skin looking bright and moisturized.

“I have to make an effort to keep my skin moisturized. It’s an essential part of my lifestyle.”

Hydration is Everything

“I had very severe eczema, allergies and super dry skin. I grew up lathering myself in lotions and potions,” says Lily. As anyone with eczema knows, the key is in keeping skin hydrated and using gentle, soothing ingredients. So how does she do it? Lily applies moisturizer three times a day (yes, three!) and avoids using soap on her face, which can zap hydration. “I have to make an effort to keep my skin moisturized. It’s an essential part of my lifestyle,” she says.

“Moisture masks are a great refresh for me, like I got an extra night of sleep.”

Her Ritual Go-Tos

By this point, it’s clear that Lily loves a good moisturizer. (“I’d shrivel up without cream.”) She relies on Cetaphil for everyday hydration, and steps things up a few nights a week with a face mask. “Since my beauty routine is pretty minimal, I like to do masks one to two times a week for that extra extra,” she says. She alternates between sheet masks and the Erno Laszlo Hydra-Therapy Memory Sleep Mask.

She also spends a lot of her time biking and walking around New York City, so a hydrating SPF is a necessity to protect against sun damage. Our Firmarine Moisturizer SPF 30 is made with a rich blend of marine actives and soothing jojoba seed oil to hydrate and protect skin.

“I love how it represents my life and what I’ve gone through.”

Telling Her Story

Another reason Lily keeps her routine minimal and focused on keeping her skin bright and hydrated, rather than hiding it behind layers of makeup, is because it tells her story. “I love how it represents my life and what I’ve gone through: the experience of life and all the emotions that I’ve felt over time,” she says. We love that too.
